Ballet Instructor(s) Wanted Salem, Oregon

About American Ballet Academy:
American Ballet Academy was founded in the 1991. It changed directorship in 2004. Today it has an established pre-professional program with nearly 300 students of all ages and levels. We seek to spread the love of dance through education, quality instruction and community involvement. With an atmosphere of support, encouragement, and respect students work to their potential while developing competence and confidence both as dancers and individuals.

About Position:
The ideal candidate will have achieved advanced/professional levels of ballet and have a proven track record of producing quality dancers who love the art. Experience choreographing age/skill appropriate dances is preferred. The ability to teach other genres of dance is a plus, though not required. Applicants must be good with people of all ages (the studio serves students age 3-adult), and be able to adapt to the different dynamics that various age groups and levels will require. Potential classes to teach include beginning ballet, intermediate ballet, advanced ballet, pointe, variations, men’s class and pas de deux. The position may be split between multiple teachers, so teachers more confident teaching only lower or higher levels can still apply. Teachers will periodically be asked to rehearse during class for younger groups. Older groups rehearse outside of regular class time. Assistance with these rehearsals would be appreciated, and is an opportunity for potential instructors who enjoy rehearsals and choreography to earn additional pay. Applicant must be able to obtain and maintain the focus of a class, and keep students motivated throughout while instructing a sound classical ballet class. We are seeking a dependable, enthusiastic, patient individual with strong communication skills who can think and critique creatively.

A total of 4-17 teaching hours per week are available, more during performance seasons if applicant is also able to help with rehearsals for older dancers. Pay is depending on experience, and competitive with professional dance schools.

To apply, please send Cover Letter, Resume/CV, references, and questions to americanballetacademy@yahoo.com, or call 503-364-4738. Please articulate why you want to teach at American Ballet Academy, what strengths and experiences you will bring, and what classes/levels you hope to instruct. View other studio information at www.americanballetacademy.net.
